140 years of Rousse hospital |

| | • Rousse hospital is the successor of the first Bulgarian civil hospital, which was founded in 1865. It became First rate state hospital after the Bulgarian liberation in 1878. It continued to develop and operate as a State hospital until the 1940s.
• The hospital’s physicians – most of them graduated in Europe, or specialized in renowned European clinics – make valuable contribution to the high standards of the Bulgarian hospital care. A lot of innovations of the European medical science and practice find application in the hospital’s pavilions built on the French model.
• With the introduction of a new administrative division of the country, which made Rousse a regional center, the hospital changed its name to County hospital. In 1963, it became United counted hospital incorporating County hospital and City hospital, as well as all medico-sanitary sections in the city. The administrative and territorial reforms, which followed, brought new changes in the hospital’s status. As an important medical center, and having the necessary equipment and excellent specialists, it receives patients from neighbouring countries as well.
• At present, the hospital is known as Multi-profile hospital for active healthcare with an interdistrict status – the kind of hospital it has been since the very beginning. |
